As part of health and well being week this film raises awareness about mental health in the music industry. We often think of musical heroes as assured and confidentt when sometimes this is anything but the truth. In the full glare of the media and with the lights shining on them people perform in front of a critical public. Sometimes I see television like Britain's Got talent or the X Factor as cruel at times and exploitative, or at best unwilling to accept any responsibility for the well being of its contestants.
I recently saw Bill Ryder Jones in concert and he is an exceptional talent. This film outlines some of the issues that he faced recently. A very brave and timely explanation that contributes to our understanding of anxiety and related health issues.
This was broadcast as part of Mental Health Awareness Week in May 2016 and guides anyone concerned about issues raised to the Mental Health charity MIND.
Tributes to the the man that has been termed 'The Fifth Beatle' are being offered by many who understood the genius that he had on perhaps the biggest and most influential band of all time.
Paul McCartney talks about his production of the classic 'Yesterday'.
One ofvthe strengths of The Beatles songs is how well they stand up as individual songs. they were then re-mastered and produced by Martin who embellished the raw song-writing talent of McCArtney and Lennon.
If you look for this song on you-tube you will see how many artists have covered this song.
In relation to our course it is his work as a producer that is worth studying. He took the ideas of Lennon and McCartney and helped them to turn them into classic songs. Take some time today to search for the reasons why George Martin is such a key figure in the development of Sound Production.
For one of my favourite Beatles tracks Martin transformed the original idea to give it a totally different sound which fitted the psychedelic branding of the group.

To gain a merit or distinction there are areas that needs developing.
You need to demonstrate an understanding of codes of practice and regulation in sound production.
You have touched on this when looking at copyright and contingencies when covering a song
Now you need to identify how these areas relate to your project and add to your report.
For example, what clearances do you need to arrange?
Or, if you are using a sample who will you contact?
Publish a risk assessment to show that you understand health and safety requirements

M1: learners will show good understanding of pre-production requirements for the proposed production and these requirements will be set out in some detail. Some thoughtful consideration will be given to relevant codes of practice and regulatory issues. Learners will be able to explain why the requirements identified are important and will give reasonably well-detailed explanations of how they will be sourced.
D1: learners will show an excellent understanding of the requirements for the proposed production and will be able to explain fully why each element is required. Learners will give detailed explanations of how these requirements will be sourced. They will give full consideration to codes of practice and regulatory issues.Fuller and more extensive explanation and a higher standard of presentation will discriminate between this grade and the merit.
